Policy

The institute provides rehabilitation services but does not provide initial diagnosis or medical treatment.

The institute is responsible for a national database regarding visually impaired individuals, diagnosis, medical treatments, and family history.
All services are free of charge.

The Institute is a responsible and progressive organization that provides excellent comprehensive services. The institute provides rehabilitation aimed at the participation and independence of customers in their daily lives, based on individual preferences.

The institute strives to be a preferred workplace where positive professionals have customers’ interests at the center of all services provided.

The institute’s purpose is:

  • To increase the possibilities of those that are blind, visually impaired or deaf-blind to participate at all levels of society equally to others with emphasis on education, independent living, leisure pursuit,  and vocation.
  • To have oversight over the circumstances of those that are visually impaired and coordinate with other entities that provide services to visually impaired in-dividuals.
  • To provide education, training, counseling and support to families, schools, and other service entities.
  • To provide service to deafblind individuals in areas of expertise within the institute and  cooperate, and coordinate  with other entities regarding other services needed.
